Original Item: One Only. The Traditional Bobby helmet was named after the creator of the British Police Force, SIR ROBERT PEEL, who became Prime Minister under Queen Victoria. This version in particular is very hard to find. It is an early "ROSE TOP" Bobby helmet, with a silvered "rose" on the top, as opposed to a ball of a comb. Most police forces moved to the comb top long ago, including the Lancashire Constabulary, but some still use the traditional style.

The front Helmet plate has a "Queens's Crown" to top, over a star burst, with LANCASHIRE / CONSTABULARY in a circle. In the center of the plate is the Red Rose of Lancaster, the symbol of the county of Lancashire. The "Queen's Crown" indicates issue sometime after 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II assumed the throne. The design of the helmet is nearly identical to the WWII style, so this most likely dates from the 1950s, or possibly the 1960s.

The helmet still retains the original leather sweatband, and is in good condition, with wear commensurate with its age. The original chi strap is present, and overall the helmet is a great example from the early years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. Ready to add to your British Bobby collection!
